Principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards

Upon successful completion of the Incipient Fire Fighting course, the student will be able to familiarize and understand the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with incipient stage firefighting. This course is designed to present the hazards involved with incipient stage firefighting, principals of a fire extinguisher, and importance of fire prevention. 

According to OSHA CFR 1910.155(c)(26) “Incipient stage fire means a fire which is in the initial or beginning stage and which can be controlled or extinguished by portable fire extinguishers, Class II standpipe or small hose systems without the need for protective clothing or breathing apparatus.”
